Monroe has grown a lot in the past few years and has seen many site revitalizations and infrastructure improvements, as well as major commercial developments with great economic potential, including the Panera Bread cafe and the Amazon Parking.;

Another development project recently approved, The Gateway Commons, is also located on Main Street (Route 25) at the Monroe/Trumbull border. This mixed-use development will comprise 57 new homes as well as retail spaces, offices and storage units. The building will have access to 198 shared parking spaces, and electric cars will be served by six charging stations.
